According to Pepe Barbe, on Monday 03 March 2003 16:39 the word on the
street was...

>If a magician has fully identified the Astral Signature of another
>Awaked Character, is there a way to search for the owner of the
>signature?

I don't see why someone who can go astral can't use Astral Perception like a
watcher does to find the owner.

If the person sees astrally but doesn't actually project (dual-natured or
physad with Astral Perception) then they can't possibly travel as fast or as
far as an astral traveler, but should still have a chance of finding the
owner if in the same neighborhood. Anyone have good modifiers to apply?
Offhand I would give a +4 TN modifier (since they can't follow the tracks
through walls and such, but have to go around all the time) and they can
only go as fast as they physically can. Odds are they won't find the source
of the aura, but if that leads them straight towards Mount Shasta or an
Aztec Pyramid, they might be able to guess who was involved in Acid Bolting
the decker through ritual sorcery.

One thing: what bleeding idiot would cast a manipulation spell, such as Acid Bolt, while
astrally projecting? The backlash to their meatbody could be horrendous, if they failed
Drain Resist.

Well, it was through Ritual Sorcery. You could only hit the decker while
astrally projecting if the decker was projecting, and since there were no
rules for cyberzombies at the time that couldn't happen :)
The group didn't know that - they got a call from the panicked decker and
arrived about an hour after the Acid Bolt hit him. There were no physical
clues at the scene, (unless you count a melted decker) but astral perception
showed a spell at Force 8 or 9 had blasted him, and the caster did not
appear to be in LOS from the trajectory of the spell (since it goes in a
straight line). Was it the main bad guys that did it, or someone else hired
to hit him for reason unknown? The group obviously needed to find out, and
spent a lot of time planning while riding the subway and taking plane
rides....
