From wolf?
Yes, he's got him crappy mailer set up wrong so that it attaches his
signature instead of inserting it.

Also, he's never heard of deleting irrelevant text and always quotes the
entire document....

Irritating in the extreme...

Yeah, there are some who can't seem to insert a signature into a mail, but
add it as an attachment to it. My mailer displays them as two-part
messages.

I couldn't figure out where all those wolf files where coming from,
guess I should have been paying attention to what I was downloading
instead of just collecting it.

Thanks,

I've forwarded the list FAQ's to you, they should be in your mailbox by
now. I don't know of any other listmembers using outlook 97, so I can't
help you there. Dig around in the settings and make sure something obvious
like 'include as attachement' and 'send as html' aren't checked. If you
can't find anything like that, then I suggest switching to a stand alone
email client, Pegasus and Eudora lite being two good examples for the
Windows platform.

Oh, and can you please write your response *under* what you're quoting?
Otherwise its like reading a book backwards.

Ack! Someone's Cloned MC23 (ie, double posting)!!!

Btw, Mark said to report double postings as we recieve them but was
really specific about how he preferred we do that. It would definately
generate plenty of list trafic, but does he really want each of us to
post to the list for each double posting?

The default is to have your messages echoed to you. At least, it is at the
moment.

I'd be guessing no... Mail him. Failing that, I suppose the list is better
than nothing.

I say keep it that way, so I don't have to mess with the server's settings
to get it to do that.

I'm getting the idea -- I don't really know what can be done about the
duplicates, but there don't seem to be all that many of them. At least
they are not a show-stopper at this moment. I'll keep looking into it,
but I'm pretty happy with the software so far.

Well, at least there won't be any of those silly impeachment procedures
against him, which can only be a good thing. Damn, I hate it when CNN
shows nothing but "Trial of the President" stuff when I get out of bed and
switch on my TV to see what's been happening in the world...

Hey...

I just got an attachment "winmail.dat" from a post from "Michael
Berman."

did anybody else? I am not accusing/angry or anything I just don't like
attachments...had a virus a few years ago on another computer and I don't
want to repeat that.

(By the way...I would have e-mailed him private, but he had no e-mail
address listed in the message...)

Don't blame Michael, actually: It sounds like a virus that sends itself out once
you're infected with it.

Good reason for Michael to scan his PC thoroughly, as well as anyone who DL'ed
the attachment. :-)

Hope the scan catches any bugs on your system, Michael! Or better ... that

Nahhh...
winmail.dat is something only windoze mailers send out.
(containing formatting/font/colour/other crap info that no-one really needs)

It must've either been badly configured, or, being mickymouse software,
probably just hiccupped...
