Any Australian listmembers add more info to the bit I saw on CNN this
morning about the lonney running through streets of IIRC Melbourne
brandishing a sword and claiming to be an immortal Highlander?

CNN had video of this kook attacking cops, and standing up to a riot water
cannon!
They finally took him down with pepper spray and a couple of attack dogs.

Struck me as a scene right out of SR!

So, Lady J ... anybody you know? ;-)

The idiot is a psych patient. He did the same thing last year, but in a
backwater suburb, so it didn't hit the press. He had his girlfriend with him
this time, though (as a hostage).

The cops took him down with pepper spray and dogs, as you mentioned, but it
probably didn't mention that the cops are getting blasted in the press today
'cause some of the other idiots (read: the crowd who were hoping for some
free entertainment) caught a bit of backwash from the capsicum spray.
Apparently, the cops (who had their hands full subduing the nut with the
sword) should have kept the other nuts further away.

For some reason, lack of common sense seems to be perfectly acceptable these
days... we must be catching it from the yanks. :)

I THOUGHT it sounded familure even though i hadn't seen a tv or a
newspaper in 3 or 4 days. I think they need to double check his
restraining straps more often.

To get this a little bit connected to SR does this strike anyone else as
the sort of behavior that BTL use would bring on? Anyone else had a
character that had a history of BTL use and who might wig out in
stressfull moments?

Just as long as you all dont catch the "Sue em!" bug. If that happend in
the US i would bet that there was atleast 3 or 4 suits against the cops
within the week. Ya know there are times i really dislike this country.
