Heya pps

OK while talking to my friendly game store people the yesterday i found
out that the australian distributors and Military Simulations in
melbourne work out of the same building (doesnt go down well when mil
sim have mail order system) so when they get it we australian players
should be not far off seeing it on the shelf (unless your in WA where we
see it weeks after the rest of you lot <mumble>)

Ah, Kroftx. I assume you're talking about the SR3 softcover - which is
already in stores along the east coast.

*chuckle* MilSims is a branch of Gedko Games. Which, co-incidentally, is the
Australian distributor. They work out of the same building for a very good
reason. (Actually, they don't really... MilSims has a display building
somewhere in Melbourne which is it's official home, but they share the
warehouses).

And I hope to God that Gedko is actually importing the SR3 books... they
used to print them under license, and the binding quality was always
extremely crap... pages would fall out on the first or second reading. I
ended up buying most of my stuff from a guy who imported them direct.

I thought everyone out here knew MilSims is the front for Jedko.
I don't buy stuff from the local games stores anymore. I always mail
order from MilSims. Far more speedy and reliable. I normally get stuff
in 2 days if I ring up, and give them my credit card number.
If you're in Australia, give them a call and at least get a copy
of their catalogue. The phone number is (03) 9555 8886.

I didn't realise Jedko ever licenced the SR books. I have one of
their licenced copies of Cyberpunk 2020 at home. Most of the SR stuff I
have from them is just an import from FASA.

Alternatively, their website is http://www.milsims.com.au/ and their email
address for sales (you can place orders through email) is sales@*******.com.au

However, I must say that sadly I'm not impressed with their service so far.
I placed an order for SR3 before it was available in Australia. They were
due to receive it nearly two weeks ago - and in fact it's now available in
local gaming stores - but I've seen neither hide nor hair of my
mail-ordered copy.

Suffice to say that unless they have a good explanation I won't be ordering
through them again...

Wow, they've really revamped their site. It's heaps better than
it used to be.

That's bizarre. I have ordered through them lots in the past and
generally haven't had any problems. Blood in the Boardroom was slightly
different - I ordered it through MilSim and it was out of stock, so they
put it on back order for me. When I went into the local gaming store, I
found it on the shelf, so I bought that one and cancelled the back
order.
Normally though, I have found their service to be both prompt
and excellent.

Given the new edition has just come out, I suspect that what has
happened is that they've filled all of the pre-orders they could and
have run out and are waiting for me. If I was you, I would get on the
phone and ask them what has happened to it. I've rung them in the past
about things like this and they've usually been able to give me a pretty
good answer.
Avoid email though. They're slower than a wet week on that front
(or at least they used to be)

cheers
Geoff

MilSims got stiffed by their US distributor who was supposed
to be shipping copies of the First Printing on the day of release.

The US distributor actually sold their foreign destined stocks in
the US to meet the demand. In other words we got shunted.

When I spoke to Colin at MilSims he told me that they are now
having to wait until November to get their copies of the second
printing. Generally they are really reliable with their mail order
stuff (I've ordered off them since 1985 and _never_ had a
problem) and they answer e-mail once a day.

Anyhow Lady J you've got a BABY
haven't you so what's the drama?
<jealous smirk>

If you really need a copy of SR3 softback then I recommend
seeing either Tony at Daily Planet or John at Napoleons as
they both have SR3 in stock. Expect to pay about $50AUS
for it though.
