I'm thinking of taking my players outside of the USA. My first thought was the Middles
East, however I have very little info.
Can anyone help?

Check the timeline in SR3. At least Iran is very meat-human unfriendly. Oh,
and there was something called the Euro-Wars in Europe (Germany in the
Shadows), which must've been something like the Ottoman invasion of Europe
some centuries ago. I don't have the book, only some reference to it from
other german sourcebooks :( That's all I know.

Has anyone here bought Deutschland in den Schatten 2 yet? If so: Should I
get it, and when I've got it, do I need DidS 1?

THX

Try Wordman's Sixth World site. :)

http://www.divnull.com/lward/sixthworld/middleeast/

Also, there was half a page or so of info on Tehran in T:AL. In 2020 the then Ayatollah
declared a jihad against the Awakened, so the great dragon Aden turned up and over the
course of a day basically demolished most of the Tehran, as you do.

Since then no-one's officially reclaimed the place so all the criminals, lowlifes and
other scum moved in. Plus the place is a haven for ghouls and packed with ghosts.

Hope that helps.

I just wish they'd release an English version. I've got the Germany
sourcebook, and I love it! I plan on at least one gaming story that will
involve a visit to good ole' Deutschland.

There isn't much official info on the Middle East. From memory (so I might
miss some things and perhaps some details might be skewed):

SR3: In the history section, Syria launces a chemical attack on Isreal,
killing many. Isreal responds with a nuclear attack, more or less
obliterating Syria. The great dragon what's-his-name levels Tehrain (sp?)
and takes up roost on Mt. Ararat (sp?).

Germany Sourcebook: There is an invasion of the Balkans and then Europe by
some sort of Middle Eastern Alliance. They are stopped about the southern
border of Germany, around Austria somewhere, and near Russia/Poland. The
Alliance breaks down a bit, and the balkens, well, balkanise, with about
half of them being still being controlled by the Middle Eastern invaders. I
have a feeling that much of the material in this book is not exactly inline
with other material in the SR world.

MitS: A decent section on the (moderate) views of Islamic nations on magic,
the Awakening, and metahumanity. This somewhat contradicts the views that I
recall were expressed for many such nations in the Germany Sourcebook (ie
extremist views).

YotC: A whole quite usable section on politcal/religious upheavel in the
Middle East, and the potential formation of a new Middle Eastern Alliance of
some sort.

Anything else that I'm missing, folks?

I leafed through it at Spiel 2001, but thought that (IIRC) 99 DM -- erm, I
should say 50 euro now :) -- was a bit too much for it. I don't own it, so I
can't actually say if it's any good to owners of the first edition, but I
suppose that if you haven't got that, then it may be a good buy.
