This should have read *UPTO* R6-7 ... whoops :)

Okay, NAGtRL says R6-7 checkers CAN check (passcode is unimportant in
this case) fingerprint, voiceprint, retinal, and cellular ID ... This
just means what it is *capable* of handling. A portable sytem for a LS
cop to scan all of the above would NOT be a problem ... Think of
metermaid's electronic pad adding a scanner, mike, retinal scanner, and
some cellular collection device. It could probably be created *today*
with electronic recordings of everything except the DNA material (though,
the images might be somewhat grainy however, that could be bypassed if a
larger computer was used to store the images / data after the pad
collects them.) so I have no doubt that SR tech would be able to create a
portable device that does all of the above and stores them in Hi-rez
(though DNA *might* be able to be processed in the cruiser, most likely,
it'll have to be stored, then processed at the precinct.)

Step Two. The LS Cop does an quick (should be instant or almost instant)
Rating 3 check using the fingerprints.

Step Three. If the LS Cop has reason to, s/he can transmit any
electronic data to the precinct to have them run a more thorough BG
check. (a grid connection is required for the *checker* which is at the
precinct.) Any higher than a 6 or maybe 7 check will need to be done at
the precinct. In most cases, LS cops won't collect DNA data unless they
want to run a high level check at the precinct. (Doesn't neccissarily
mean that they take the guy in.) LS cops generally only do this since
they don't like waiting on it (1D6 mins for a R4-5 check, 2D6 for a R6-7
check.)

This is mostly IMO but I hope it's useful anyway. :)
