Thank you. Like I said there was more to his background than that
quick summary. I wrote it to be open for the GM to play with the concepts
and situations it contained. That's just a hold out from my old
Champions days. When I ran Champions I gave an intial bonus for
Character Concept (1pt each for name, costume, and power structure) and
then there was a 1-3pt bonus for history write depending on 1 pt for
written, 2 pts for well written and another for giving me game ideas. It
work out pretty well and have adapted the background history option to
all the other games I've played as well.
Waif's personal goal in the game was one of personal redemption.
The mysteries Malekith left behind for him became part of that journey.
He's still my personal favorite Shadowrun character to date.
In a way I should add as runner-up MC23. When I was first working on
my Charlotte-sprawl background I wanted a pirate news team as NPC's as a
major mover & shaker in the 'plex. The two founders were based on my
friend and myself as fictional counterparts of what we could be if we
were alot older and active in the game world. Doc Evil is the decker of
the group and MC23 (the NPC) is the eccentric hermetic mage. Since MC23
is a projection of me I used it as a penname while I wrote on the
Clobberin' Times APA and many times since. I won't explain where MC23
came from since that is part of what MC23 is. Now MC23 represents me more
(since it is me) than that NPC. MC23 is an identity I strive to create
to express myself through. Even the company name for my freelance work
is MC23 Endeavours to further this image. Any reference by the fictional
NPC is always followed by being from Trideo Free Charlotte that same
pirate news (information brokers) he founded.
I hope you found that little bit of trivia interesting.

Ancient cultures believed that names held great power, personal
names more so and they were guarded very closely. To protect themselves,
they answered to another name, because if another discovered their real
name, it could be used against them.
History repeats itself.
Welcome to the Digital Age.
I am MC23
