With all due respect, I must vehemently disagree. I don't want to see any
topic censored unless it NECESSARILY produces flamage and hurt feelings. I
think that the Magick-is-Real thread qualifies because it involves
religious/spiritual beliefs and is virtually guarenteed to produce an uproar.
Wasted bandwidth is in the eye of the beholder. The one exception is quoting
a 100 line post to provide a 1 line response, and that's discussed in the
FAQ. I personally am not particularly interested in the 'grounding' debate.
Nor was I interested in it when it came up before (and it has). But that's
my view and apparently lots of other people didn't find it a waste of bandwidth.
Whether or not a topic will finally be laid to rest doesn't strike me as a
good criterion to use when deciding what is and is not censored from the
list. If the only allowable topics are ones that can be laid to rest by
saying 'the answer is on page x of book y' the list will get real boring
real fast. IMO the most interesting threads are the ones that are not
subject to being laid to rest.
I generally oppose censorship of topics. Terry
