That is exactly how I handled this problem in my campaign. ONLY
Personal Versions of Barriers move. The reason is because the the
spell is a weird sort of manipulation. Just like the Damaging
Manipulations the Barrier spells can be targeted to an area instead of
a person. But if the barrier was targeted on a person the spell would
still stay in the area it was targeted for not the person it was
targeted on. Personalizing the spell links it to the person and not
the area. About reshaping: I don't see why not.
