I'm confued by the barrier ratings table given in the black book.
Just what is a "Cheap material"? Stay-press rayon? So, this is the
SR2 barrier table (courtesy of Phill) with what I think are
real-world examples of the various items. Comments?

BARRIER RATING TABLE

Material Rating Example
Standard Glass 2 House windows.
Cheap Material/Regular Tires 3 Hardboard, internal house door.
Average Matl/Ballistic Glass 4 Plywood, external house door,
bank clerk screen.
Heavy Material 6 Brieze blocks, bricks, car door.
Reinforced/Armoured Glass 8 APC windows, 1m water.
Structural Material 12 External concrete walls, car engine block.
Heavy Structural Material 16 Structural concrete pillars.
Armoured/Reinforced Material 24
Hardened Material 32 Bunkers, pillboxes.

Yeah, SR1 gave examples of each type, or rather, it had a table of thin up
to thick, and then had the materials down the side, from wood up to
re-enforced concrete.

So you only rate bank clerk screens on the same level as plywood? Seems a
tad low to me.

I would have said car doors have a much lower barrier rating than bricks.
Probably put the car door on 4.

Now tell me, how does armoured glass compare to bricks? I would have thought
that it would be at least as difficult to put a bullet through a brick wall
as it would be to put it through armoured glass. But then again I know
nothing of firearms, so that is just as likely to be wrong. Similar question
for the water. Would one meter of water really stop a bullet? I again, would
have said not.

What is that weapon which is supposed to be able to shoot through a cars
engine block? I can't remember, but it would need a power greater than 12 in
this case.

Yes, a meter of water will pretty much stop a bullet. Bullet
penetration in water sucks. If it doesn't stop, it will either be wildly
deflected or lose enough energy that if it hits it won't do much good anyway.
