Hey,

This has probably been done millions of times before, and if it had, and you can redirect
me to it, I'll appriciate it.
What do you think is the best Shadowrun storyline so far?
By storyline I mean stuff like Dunkhelzahn's (sp?) story, year of the comet (whatever that
is, haven't read it yet), bug city, etc.

Stating my best, I'd like to first start by saying all of SR's stories are amazingly
great... Shadowrun is so much better than all those "other" games out there just
because of this.
But *the* most amazing would have to be Bug city. I've read the same info about it for
four times and I'm moved near tears everytime I do. Something so tragic and compelling and
amazingly realistic
although it is based on something completely unnatural must be one of the best stories
ever. The fact that its a game I can and should play as a setting makes me both feel much
more towards SR, and
on the other hand makes me feel I don't want to ruin it by playing it not well enough,
misinterpreting it, etc.
I'm writing this as I'm reading SR's background again to refresh my memory, and again, I
feel like I've seen a great movie, or read a great story, of the kind you think about
weeks later.
I haven't read many other SR storylines, but I still feel that this has to be the best
they've ever, and the best they'll ever be able to, come up with.
your thoughts?

When I say a software is uninstallable, do I mean you cannot install it, or you *can*
uninstall it?

Bug City really impressed me. To take such a silly 50's B movie premise
"Giant Ants Take Over Chicago!!!" and turn it into something that was
as intense, spooky and, well, real as it was - that's some achievement.

Shadowrun can do that though, the basic idea of 'Orks with Guns!' could
be viewed as stilly, but the way it's presented leaves the world of Shadowrun
feeling much more internally consistent than most other game settings
I've read.

I usually do my own thing... but in my early days I followed along with the
initial shadowrun storyline.

My thoughts on the best would probably be "The Universal Brotherhood". But
it wasn't just the storyline... the fact that the PCs at that point knew
nothing about the UB and the bugs... gave it alot of impact in my games...
they didn't know what to expect, and at times they didn't know what was the
best thing to do.

The original Harlequin. Easily. Even if you don't use the immortal elves, it
still holds up, BTW.

Bug, definitely bugs. IMHO despite being the first 'Threat' introduced
they've managed to keep thier subtle terror that they had when they were
first introduced.

Well, I probably get killed for saying this, but I
liked the possibility of immortal elves a lot.
Especially as they were described in the Tir na nOg
Sourcebook. As far as I know they are only hinted at
in that book.

Sad but true, the Open Forum in the back of Tir
Tairngire ruined it in my oppinion, outright stating
that immortal elves existed. (Though Tir Tairngire was
the first of the Tir books.)

Since reading TT I've used far fewer Elves in my
campaigns. I'm thinking of ripping the Open Forum text
out of the TT book and trying to forget what was in
it. (It will be hard, but some things can be
achieved.)
