I just realized something interesting for the pyromaniac mages ...
A shotgun with a sustained or quickened Limited Armor - Heat (p 147 M&M)
should be able fire Big D's Temper (p 39 CC) rounds with reduce risk (or
maybe even no risk) of damage. How high a Force would the spell need to
be?

You mean (p 147 MITS).

Um, I wouldn't say that; I always imagined armor spells to encompass
whatever it's cast upon so it would therefore either block anything leaving
the gun or go inside and protect the innerworkings of the gun from itself.

What I would do would be to cast reinforce (p 148 MITS) (maybe even a
version limited to fire) on the gun; that would do what you're describing.

How high a Force would the spell need to

If the shotgun can handle ammo with a power level 2 less then Big D's. then
it makes sense that the spell would have to be force 2. This would IMHO
take away any risk of the gun melting on you.

However, the price of a sustaning focus or the karma (to me) is a bit much
to shell out for protecting one lousy shotgun. Plus the imagery of firing
shells that are so powerful that they can wreck your gun is something I
would not want to sacrifice:)
