On discussion of sniper rifles:
- The standard 7.62mm x 51 NATO round used by many sniper rifles is roughly
equal to that of most "Sport Rifles" of today. i.e. Deer rifles (NOT
30-06 however). The damage for a "Sport Rifle in SR2 is 9S.
- The damage for a sniper rifle in SR2 is 14S...this is a HUGE difference.
Therefore, I assume the "Sniper Rifle" is based on the the .50in Browning
(12.7mm x 99), better associated with the .50in Barret Rifle.
Model: 82A1
Origin: USA
Length: 60.98in (1,549mm)
Weight: 29.77lb (That's unloaded weight)
Feed: 11-round detachable box magazine
Cartridge: .50in Browning (12.7mm x 99)
Muzzle Velocity: 2,732ft/s (833m/s)
- Unfortunately, I don't have all my stuff here at college, so I can't
find out exact muzzle energy of this round. However, firing a 1000 grain
bullet at 2,732ft/s has a LOT of kick. (That 1000 grns. may be + or - a bit)
- "The Model 82A1 is a massive weapon over 5ft(1.5) long. It overcomes the
formidable recoil of the .50in round by using a double-baffle muzle brake.
This diverts much of the propellant gas sideways, sending a cloud of dust
into the air if it is fired from dry ground...
"...without an efficient muzzle brake, the recoil would be unbearable."
- And FINALLY to make my point...you waited so long, I thought I should...
At over 5ft long, this weapon is NOT (reapated: NOT) concealable. Even
with rules like long coat and concealable holser, you still have NO chance
of concealing this pop-gun.
Second..I believe there is very good reason to put modifiers to the
shots from this thing (second shot) since it requires something like a
Gas Vent 3 and braced against the shoulder to fire it in the first place!
- Just so you know, you cannot realistically pull this thing to your
shoulder while standing and fire it.
Thank you for your time, interest, NuYen (Oh?.. I didn't mention that)
