Subject: Big huge beetles under Denver?
Date: Tue Feb 20 17:35:00 2001
I'm playing on a MUD that takes place in Denver (post
2060, I -think-). Now, the game is rather true to the
tabletop version, and I've encountered something that
was rather.... interesting...

Beetles... Big, huge, freakin' beetles crawling around
in the sewers and such.... Big, god-damn BIG beetles.

Could anyone give me ANY information on this? Is it in
the actualy SR storyline ANYWHERE, what are they, who
made them/why are they here?

Thanks in advance,

-Dr.Vyk,

Insect Spirits. True Form. A nice big nest of them too.

Only one thing you an do about that - Nuke Denver. Nuke it now. Nuke it
hard.

Hey, it worked for Chicago.

If they fly then they sound like the Jackhaeffer (sp?) from Paranormal
Animals of Europe.

How big? There's a critter type beetle that lives off toxic waste that's
pretty big (maybe dog sized) and then there Bug Spirits, which are man
sized. Neither is specific or unique to Denver, but there's nothing saying
they CAN'T show up thier either.

The animals are just awakened beasts, the spirits generally have a Shaman
backing them up somewhere.

According to Curtis Askren, on Tue, 20 Feb 2001 the word on the street was...

They could just be beetle spirits... The alternative is in Paranormal
Animals of Europe on pages 64-65, the jauchekafer with a body length of
about 80 cm, plus its mandibles which are 40 cm in males and 10 cm in
females.
