Hi everybody!

I'm kind a new to SR, and I've just recenty got my hands on some of the most
interesting sourcebooks like Aztlan, Portfolio of the Dragon etc.
I wonder who are those secretive characters that give comments, to various
issues, and seem to know everything in advance. I mean names like Jungel
Cat, Wordsmyth, The Loughing Man and so on.
I know that Big D. is Dunkelzahn (yeagh, that was difficult to guess :), and
that Lady of the Court is from Tir na Nog, but that's as far as my knowledge
goes.
I suppose this subject may be silly, for most of you old crones, but please
share yours speculations, with me.

Thanks in advance!
Adam aka S.B.

P.S. Excuse my spelling.
Englisch ain't my speciality :)))

The shadowtalk characters in the sourcebooks are all sorts of people some
you'll recognise, some you won't, most of them are just runners just like
your character or mine, in fact at least one of the players is on this list,
Bull "the best ork decker you've never met" featured in YotC (IIRC) if
nowhere else, say "Hi" Bull! There may be others but they tend to be harder
to spot lurking out of sight at the back.
Most of the characters appear in the novels or adventures however, Argent,
Redline...etc. the more you get into the hobby the more you'll recognise.
The idea behind them, or rather the idea behind using them in sourcebooks is
to give you an idea of how the rumourmill has gotten to work on the
information given, how the world as a whole and shadowrunners in particular
are dealing with the world. The shadows don't know everything but they tend
to hear a lot.

Lesse. We went over this particular list when it came out. What I
remember is:

Wordsmith is Ehran the Scribe, a rival of Harlequin
Laughting Man is Harlequin, a rival of Ehran the Scribe

Both seem to be immortal elves left over from the Earthdawn period.

Jungle Cat is a luminary from Amazonia.

Without the names, I can't go further, but that was an improbable
conversation.

Hmm... This was actually answered in game (sort of) If you can find a copy
of Threats (1),
Check under the Atlantian Conspiracy heading. The poster there gives his
insight on that and
a couple of people from the Cybertechnology book.
