Subject: Big Quote on Shadowrun U.K. in 2050x.......

Here's a quote I just about fell out of my seat LOL when I read it, and
I thought a couple of you out there might get a kick out of a
paraphrased version for the U.K. in the year 205x, for Shadowrun. Enjoy.

"'The Times' is read by the people who RUN the country. 'The
Democrat' is read by the people who THINK they run the country. 'The
Standard' is read by the people who think they OUGHT to run the country.
'The Morning Star' is read by the people who think the country ought to
be run by ANOTHER country. 'The Independent' is read by the people who
don't know WHO runs the country, but are sure they're doing it wrong.
'The News UK' is read by the SPOUSES of the people who run the country.
'The Financial Times' is read by the corps who OWN the country. 'The
Express' is read by the people who think the country ought to be run as
it USED to be run. 'The Daily Telegraph' is read by people who still
think it IS their country. And 'The Truth's' readers DON'T CARE who runs
the country, provided she has big tits."

This is ANCIENT. Although it SHOULD be the Sun readers who only care about
big tits, and "News UK????", Guardian more likely.....

Why is it shadowrun relevant?

It's from the tv show, Yes, Prime Minister. And the papers like
'News UK', 'The Standard', The Democrat', and 'The Truth', are right out
of the SR London Sourcebook. From the descriptions given there, I
thought they fit the slots I pegged them in. I thought it would give
people a better grasp of the newspapers in SR U.K., than just saying
'...is a venerable quality newspaper, blah, blah, blah.'.
Besides, there might be a few people out there who haven't heard
it.

Actually, I seem to recall something like that off "Yes, Minister" or the
sequel. Then again, shadowrun could hardly claim to be original.....
