I read yesterday in National Geographic that scientists have calculated
that the Earth can comfortably support 1-2 Billion people.

When VITAS hit the population was probably around 10-15 Billion.

What if VITAS was a bioweapon created by some environmentalist nuts to
decrease the population of the earth? And when it didn't kill enough
people they launched VITAS II.

In 205x the population still far exceeds 2 Billion.

Here's the adventure idea. The same group has been working on VITAS
III. This time they want to make sure it's going to work and they've
modified it so that it will not only kill the majority of the
population, but it will decrease the fertility of the survivers (maybe
decrease the menstral cycle to 5 years, or alter women so that they are
only fertile for a year after puberty).

The group wants to test it first.

The runners are hired to investigate the death of almost the entire
population of a remote island owned by one of the Megacorps. The MC has
it's own security forces on the job, but one of the VPs who's hired the
runners before brings them in too.

The rest of the adventure involves the runners tracking down clues and
talking to nefarious characters (roleplaying :). It could also involve
traversing the world as they hunt for the VITAS Group. And you could toss
in Wintermute as a big red herring :)

Enjoy.

Sounds like (and I'm embarassed to reference it because I actually enjoyed
the movie) the "Red Ribbon" virus from the movie _Barb Wire_. They tested
it on Topeka, KA.

Aw jeez. I swear, that idea was original AFAIKnew. I guess what they
say is true, there's no such thing as an original idea.

Hmmm.. Now maybe I have a good excuse to watch Barb Wire, to see what
they did with my idea :)

Great idea, but there has already been a Vitas-3. Try VITAS-IV, and you've
got a sick idea that I can enjoy
