I lived in Arkansas for over 10 years as a small child and would run around in
the woods every chance I got. I saw lots of snakes, both poisonous and non.
Not once did I get bitten.

Snakes (and other animals) are like lots of people. If you don't like them,
fine. Leave them the hell alone.

For SR relevance...
Has anyone ever considered the little creepy-crawlies (read scorpions, etc.)
that might be encountered on a daily basis? I live in Austin, Texas and
still see the occasional scorpion...

Y'know, this brings up an interesting idea...

Magician is outside building. Magician turns into green mamba via Shapechange
spell. Magician crawls into air ducts, crawls up through building, crawls
into person's oh-so-secure apartment and bites him. Person dies rather
quickly. Magician crawls back out and no one knows who did it.

It took you /how/ long to figure this one out?

:)

Oh geeze... fer crissake, I've done this kind of stuff every time I play
a mage. I've never seen anyone else do it, however. Always strikes me as
odd. So, considering *some* of the brilliant arguments I've seen on here,
it wouldn't surprise me if no-one else realized the potential for sheer
nastiness that the Shapechange spell offers.

Our GM has limited the Shapechange spell so that you can only turn into
something within 2 points of Body as yourself. (Maybe this is a real rule,
actually.. it's been quite a while since I've played a mage.)

A player armed with a good knowledge of animals and a Shapechange spell is
a real terror for a GM. I've been one, and I've ran them, and I've played
alongside them. A character with a Shapechange spell and some elemental
backup is even worse.

Yes. That's just one of the many ways you can use this spell, if you
don't modify it or disallow it with house rules. Depends on just how
powerful you want mages to be, I guess.
