if you notice in the shadowtech sourcebook, leonization (or 'genetic
cleansing') costs essence.

boosted reflexes and leonization cause permanent changes in the physical
make-up of the body. bioware does not. bioware adds organic material
that supplements and/or augments the bodies natural processes, but does
not affect permanent changes. the bioware can be removed - boosted
reflexes and leonization cannot.

boosted reflexes cannot be combined with wired reflexes or a vehicle
control rig. synaptic accelerator cannot be combined with wired
reflexes or a vehicle control rig. i would assume that ba and sa
cannot be combined, although i'd have to return to the books to find a
either a rule or justification for it.

I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to send me
the SR2 game effects for boosted reflexes. I don't own a copy of
SSC (is it still available?), and it looks like something useful for a
new character I'm setting up.

Boosted Reflexes
Level: Essense Cost Bonus:
1 0.5 15,000 +1d6
2 1.25 40,000 +1d6,+1 Reaction
3 2.8 90,000 +2d6,+2 Reaction

Can never be combined with Wired Reflexes (and I assume
most other reflex oriented cyber-mods, someone who
owns Cybertechnology can fill us in on that). Is a one-
shot deal; can never be upgraded or removed.
As I remember, it's a chemical treatment? Is this right?

If you have boosted, you can never use Wired Reflexes or a VCR. They are
compatable with Reaction enhancers, however. Synaptic Accelrators are not
mentioned- you may be able to "upgrade" from boosted 1 (or 2) to Synaptic
Accelrator 2, keeping (of course) only the highest bonus.
The reason it coinflicts (and can't be removed / upgraded) is that it
chemically alters the nervous system through some irreversable process. I
imagine this involves drug / nanite treatments, and a lot of electrical
stimulation. Ouch. I persoanlly don't see why it could not be upgraded,
since the higher levels are proably more in depth versions of the process
involved in the lower levels.
On advantage of Boosted Reflexes is that they never suffer cyberdamage
or need repair, if you go by the system in the SSC. Makes sense, as they
are more an alteration of the body than an addition to it.
I won't go into thier SRC SOTA problems, but I can imagine that, if
they needed maintance, such maiantance would be difficult. At least if
your wires start to go twitchy on you, you can get the parts replaced.
Boosted reflexes probaly lead to intertesting long term nuerological
problems- after a while, the amplified signals could blead through the
mylinal sheath, causing symptoms similar to MS. Of course, one would hope
the Boosting process adresses such long term issues.
