In the supplement "Bottled Demon," FASA mentioned that (to
paraphrase) future supplements would describe where the
idol came from or at least provide more information about
it and its workings. Does anyone know whether FASA fufilled
this promise or have any speculations? (not that the
module was that impressive, it's just that i am insanely
curious)

i am simply too lazy to scan all the listserv archives...)

WARNING!!! Harlequin's Back, Queen Euphoria, and assorted spoilers ahead!

Regarding your request about the Bottled Demon Module, I can describe in detail
what I know and speculate on the subject, (as it is the focus of my current
campaign.) The bottled demon contains the first references to a larger plotline
involving immortal elves, ancient dragon magics, insect spirits, blood magic,
and the Earthdawn Horrors. The "masters" described in BD, which control the
Bottle, are creatures referred to in ED as "horrors", which destroyed much of
the world in the ED time, and are fated to return to the current age (Sixth
Cycle on the Mayan calendar) when the mana level is high enough. The Insect
Spirits, who infiltrated society by use of the Universal Brotherhood, and whose
main hive in Chicago were nuked in the novel Burning Bright, are the
"harbingers" of these grossly powerful beings, referred to in the SR world as
The Enemy. The Great Ghost Dance, which increased the flow of mana to the
world, in addition to being the first large-scale use of blood magic in the
Sixth Age, created a mana "spike" which made a bridge from the metaplanes where
the Enemy dwells to our world. The module Harlequin's Back details the astral
quest to keep the enemy from our world.

Circa 2055-56, the Brotherhood is broken up by the government, The bugs are
confined to Chicago, and the Enemy has been delayed... for now. This plotline
will come to a major head next year... here are my predictions on how the sides
will take shape...

"Good Guys": Harlequin, Dunkelzahn, Daniel Howling Coyote, The leader of Tir Na
nOg's Seelie Court (or was it Unseelie? I forget her name.) Damien Knight,
Ehran the Scribe... others who I am having trouble identifying.

"Bad Guys": Bugs (natch), Agents of The Enemy, Aztechnology Blood Mages, and
assorted others...

If anyone has ideas on this plot please post them, or if anyone can think of
any other forces aligning with each side....
ALSO, If anyone knows who the "Big Powers" Whose conversation was posted in the
Aztlan SB, please post a list of yer guesses.... I know that the Big "D" is
Dunkezahn, and the Laughing Man is Harlequin, and Lady Of The Court is the Tir
Na nOg dignitary whose name escapes me, but I can't guess at the others....

Wordsmyth is Ehran. No clue on any of the others, I'm afraid. I'd
really like to know who the Watcher and Brightlight are. At GenCon,
Mike Mulvihill jokingly said Brightlight was Kerensky (Battletech
reference). :)

Just a quiet unknowing sugestion but could the Watcher be Lofwyr (after all
in "Never Deal With a Dragon" he seemed to think he saw and Knew all) and
how `bout this Brightlight being Professor Laverty (same book no reason hes
just the only high level *respected* mage I can think of that might fit that
name).

So ya think its possible

I don't own or have read all of the modules but I believe nothing in BD ever
came up in other adventures.
I did use the idol to form a link between Earthdawn and SR, though...

Well not directly, but it definitely is a horror item and we have seen
horrors havent we ? :) As this particular item, well I wouldnt put it
past FASA to use it in some future module.
BTW does anyone know what the "Lokus" is Ehran, Harlequin, Dunkelzahn and
the others mentioned in Aztlan ? It seems to me that its some some of
mondo power focus, and they also said something about a corrupted version.
I think that this "lokus" could easily be the idol from Bottled Demon no ?
