Gah!!!!

Don't even joke about using a bow in a LARP!

My little bro and I did so in a small LARP we ran here.
He had a 35 pound recurve and dowel rods with 5 inch thick foam heads.
We tested them over and over, and even a head shot at close range did not
hurt.

However we neglected to check the groin shots ...
He hit me from about 15 yards away right in the crotch and just about
killed me when I tried to fall off the ledge I was on as I doubled up in
pain.

Bows have been banned from our LARPS ever since.

Gah! Ick! Ouch! Bad! Pain!

Whp said I was going to put on foam heads a coupl of grizzley heads out to
do it. ;-)

Well you know what they say about heads made of soli rock. ;-)

Why not? We do, regularly....

They're set for a maximum of about 35 pounds. The quarrels have specially
made rubber'n'foam tips, and no-one in 10 years has been injured by them
(That I know of...)

Bad luck, but still.... The arrow might have hurt, but it didn't cause any
damage. People in sports are just as likely to get hit there by accident.
(Squash ball in the groin anyone????)

It seems to me that he was a fool for shooting you when you were on a ledge.

Never been banned from ours though....
They work fine.

I can imagine, but if they're used sensibly (as can be said for latex swords
as well) they are reletively harmless.

Those swords hurt like hell if the moron on the other end of it doesn't pull
his blows.....
