For those of you who know of my Brand Name Cyberware posts of long ago.

Well after playtesting my Brand Name cyberware for 8 months, some changes
have been made. These changes are made to my Brand Name Cyberware posts
of about 4 or more months ago. As of now, both cybered characters in
my campaign have undergone a total of 17 operations to upgrade their
cyberware. Both are extremely happy to have the ability to upgrade without
paying extreme amounts. The changes below answer some questions about
my three brand name postings. The main change is to the failing to pay
maintenance cost penalty. This system is much more lax and seems to
work a lot better. And makes the really cheap stuff really bad on
maintenance. I am also planning to make a new Brand Name post soon.
And on the distant horizon is a new re-formatted Brand Name post which will
incorporate all the posts.

New Maintenance rules for Brand Names:

Maintenance Costs can be paid monthly or every so many months equal to
the Maintenance Frequecny as long as the cost per year is equal to
the brands maintenace cost percentage X the cost of the cyber item (
not including street index).

Failing to pay maintenance:
Every time a number of months goes by equal to the Frequency of
Maintenance of the cyber brand name, the GM rolls 2D6. The Target
number is equal to the Damage Resistance (Serious) of the Brand
Name. If one success is generated, the cyber item is fine. If
no successes are generated, then the item suffers a Light wound
and must be repaired. See Shadowtech pg. 39-40 for damage
levels and repair.

Notes:
Systems that adjust Maintenance costs also adjust maintenance
Frequency the same amount. In other words the divider for
the maintenance cost is multiplied by the Frequency to determine
the new Maintenance Frequency. Example: Ares-MarkV has maintenance
frequency of 2 and a maintenace cost of 10% of cost per year.
With an Embedded Diagnostic System (X1/5 to maintenace cost) the
maintenance cost drops to 2% per year and the Maintenance frequency
soars to 10 months.

Some people have asked if the Enzomatic Reinforcer Treatment is
in addition to an Diagnostic System, Answer is yes. So that
a character with the Treatment and an Embedded Diag System has only
1/20th. maintenance cost and can go for 20X maintenance freq. in
months before needing a check up.

Also:
Zeiss, Nikkon, and RCA under Package Deals are really Brand Names
that carry limited lines of cyberware.
