After a hard day of kicking computers at the bank, I get on the train and
pull out my copy of "Beyond the Shadows" and start reading. I'm minding my
own business, but I hear the word "matrix" from the seat in front of me. I
look up, and the two guys are reading "Awakenings" and "Shadowbeat".
So I
say, "Do you guys play Shadowrun?", and they turn around, and the one
reading "Awakenings" is Tom Dowd. (Who is either very much alive, or an
incredible simulation, BTW.) Before they can answer, I say "Tom Dowd!", so
he answers, "That would be a yes."

Turns out he just moved into my neighborhood, and we take the same train
line. Unfortunately, since he's now with FASA Interactive, he no longer is
the definitive source for Shadowrun info that he used to be. (He was
reading "Awakenings" to get caught up, fer cryin out loud!) The next
Battletech computer game is coming along nicely, tho. (Can you say 3-D
acceleration strongly recommended? Sure, I knew you could.)

All in all, it made for a pleasant trip home, but the lady sitting next to
me sure cleared out in a hurry. ;-)

So...looks like you have a new gaming group? :) Maybe I'll hang around the
gaming store longer than normal today..who knows, maybe somebody famous
will be there...most likely corrupted and playing M:TG with all the other 5
year olds..(Not trying to start a CCG vs RPG war, I just wish people there
played SR damnit!) Anyways..off to buy the SR companion, if the hick
stores in Canada have it in yet.

Well, ask mr. Dowd if he can hang out on this list too, he's ruling out and
wide the rec.games.frp.cyber newsgroups! (well, almost... :)

Don't worry Mike, we all like you, but we want to hear from all of you...

And I would like to ask mr. Dowd in public about the set of Denver pass
card I was supposed to get :) (kidding)

Bye, Paolo

I don't beleive Tom is on any mailing lists...I'm pretty sure writing and
overseeing the plot for the Btech computer game (Called Mech Commander) has
kept him pretty busy lately.

I thought the traditional place for things like skeletons was the
closet. My, how things have changed in 2050. <smirk>

Unfortunately, no. Tom is starting up a new campaign at FASA
Interactive, which is waaay too far for me. (Not to mention, I wasn't
invited!) No, I'll just have to content myself with bumping into him
occasionally.

You _could_ ask him yourself. He uses his real email address when he
posts to r.g.frp.c... (Oh, no! It looks like I've developed a case of
Ellipsis Syndrome... and after only a brief exposure to Tom...)

Er, wouldn't that be the _other_ "Big D"? :) (I'm imagining a verrry
big file cabinet.)

AAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!! Of course!! Another way cool game!! And Of
course I still won't be able to run it on my computer!! I am going to
have to come up with 2K so I can buy a new comp so I can spend 2K
more catching up on all the really cool games tyhat have come out
since my comp suddenly became a Composaur..DREK!! What I want to know
is when is FASA-I going to produce a BTech movie??? I have a copy of
the test art tape for the cartoon and the first part is right on up
there with Babylon5 for quality...This was not a ploy to restart the
"Who would be good in a Btech movie" thread..
