Well - there is one thing - Uranium won't make the
extended chain systems that carbon, and to a lesser degree,
silicon, do.

Umm - I believe there is someone on this list, already
working on this one. *grin* Offhand though, to just deal with
the question, Uranium rounds would be a neat trick, just don't
try to sneak them into the airport. They would require a greater
gunpowder load to deliver the same velocity. This may necessitate
modifying the barrel of your gun. Of course, one could use it as
a subsonic round, which would substantially decrease the noise
when fired, but also substantially decrease the range.

Needless to say, after the US almost nuked the USSR in
2012, or whenever it was, I imagine there would be a really tight
lid on depleted Uranium. Then there is the question of whether
they may have breeder reactors producing power cheaper than
conventional light water reactors, eliminating the supply of
depleted uranium.

I can just see it now though, "OK guys, lets make a run
on the Seattle reprocessing center!! We'll go into business
for ourselves on this one!" *grin*
That is one thing I do believe. By 2054, nuclear waste
reprocessing will be legal in the US again. There are just too
many ecologic reasons to bring it back than to assume that they
are still burying the stuff.

You bet! That's why all the chemists I know carry the
Ares Squirt (tm). Approved by the American Chemical Society as
the official handgun of chemists everywhere!
