One small problem - spiders aren't insects (you need a can of
"f*** those arachnid bastards right off"). I *think* in one of
the source books it even says that PCs can be spider shamans,
even though it explicitly says that PCs cannot be insect
shamans.

Cheers,
Jon.

It's no use pointing that out on this list -- believe me, I've tried. More
than once... :)

Bug City has stats for a Spider totem. However, the adventure Total
Eclipse (better spend your money on something else than this junk,
though...) has an NPC shaman whose totem is Spider, and it makes him do
all kinds of creepy things; not like an insect shaman, but not he's not
"normal" either.

Let's not forget the Bob Charrett novels...
"Choose your enemies carefully" is the main one that pits Twist against
Spider, I think...

Spider is represented as totally creepy in that one, and there's a lot of
"catching poeple in her web of deceit" type stuff.

The reason I didn't mention that is because I've never read those
novels... It's on my "to do" list, but I need to find a place that
sells them first. (I could also have said "Because novels aren't canon as
far as game rules are concerned," but I won't ;)

"Choose your enemies carefully" is a must read before you read/GM Total
Eclipse.

The spirit that the spider shaman is trying ot summon, is the spirit that
Sam accidentally releases in Australia in the book.

Not exactly. It is *one* of many spirits that escaped from the Astral
"holding cell" in (IIRC) Ayer's Rock. The novel states fairly clearly that
there was more than one spirit there (and I'm pretty sure more than one
escaped). Plus, Total Eclipse says that the spirit is *one* of the ones that
escaped (read the intro to its stats at the back of the adventure).

While "Find Your Own Truth" (that's the actual novel they are released in --
the third in the series) is connected to "Total Eclipse" it is hardly
required reading to run the adventure.

Same difference; a mentally unstable Spider shaman summons a load of spirits
who take the form of spiders, along with a few of his own pets and threatens
Seattle.

I don't have Bug City, but I *do* have my own stats on some insect totems,
including spider. The one in Total Eclipse is just wrong, no matter what you
use. I wrote a different scenario I'll post sometime with a Spider Shawoman
(now *there's* an ignorant etymological blunder!).

3 words: Inter-Library Loan. Okay, that's 2. Go to your local library and
ask if you can get the book via ILL. You may have to pay a buck for
shipping, depending on the library, but at least you can read it, then.

Of course, that's an American thing. Not sure if the Netherlands (.nl?) has
that or not.

Yes, it has something similar. No, it probably won't work with SR novels.
That is to say, in my local library's computerized catalog are plenty of
titles marked "Not available in this library" which means it can be
ordered from another. But there are no game novels in it as far as I've
been able to determine. (In fact, about 50% of the books I'd like to read
aren't in said catalog...)
