Is there more info on California Hots other than what's in Shadowbeat
(which isn't much)? I looked in CFS and was suprised when I couldn't
find ANYthing on them ...

There was some mentions of them in the first NAN sourcebook, and in the
Denver box, but if I remember correctly, these mostly were about cal hots as
contraband.

Actually, Califrnia hots are much like normal commercial simchips, but with
an higher "reality setting": i.e. the experiences they contain feel realer
than normal sims. Though they are still below the real life level.

BTLs are (usually illegal) simchips with reality settings equal or even
higher than real life.

Hope this helps,

Phil

They talk about them pretty well in the Underworld Sourcebook.

I think denver might have mentioned them, though. As part of the smuggling.
They are IIRC legal in CalFree, they are not as bad as BTL, but over the
limit for the UCAS laws regardign sim-sense.

Where? I can only find references to stuff like "they deal in CalHots"
... I'm looking for what CalHots ARE ... IOW, what's the general feel?
primarily softporn with an amped simsense feed? or the full range of
genres with the beefed singnal? I mean they aren't, as far as I know,
looped tracks of single emotions so there is some kind of plot/story
(even if it sucks eggs) ... so what's typical?

D.Ghost, all CalHots are basically regular simsense that has a higher
feedback level.

Let's say that normal simsense chips put out a level 10 signal. Work with
me, I'm not concerned about real numbers or details. A BTL might put out,
say, a level 20 signal.

A CalHot would put out probably a 13, 14, maybe a 15. It's stronger than
the normal simsense, gives stronger sensations and feedback, but isn't
anywhere near a BTL (except by UCAS law that is).

Their subject matter is whatever the Hollywood system is cranking out in
2060, just as with regular simsense. Their signal is just stronger is all.
