Hi, have you noticed something about the published Shadowrun
adventures? Yes, thats right they are all the same, and do not
give themselves very easily to campaign games. The only way
they seem to fit together is as little peices and there is no
big picture to see. This weekend Mark Archer(M. Archer of
CuthulhuRun fame.) and myself were bouncing a few ideas around
and noticed a patern in the history, 2011, 2021, 2031 and 2041
were all majour events in history, so what happened to 2051? No
idea. What this game needs is a real earth mover to shake the
whole thing up and get things moving in another direction.
Apart from Harlequin, and maybe a follow up, nothing is going to
change much as far as Seatle is concerned. What we realy need
is a big event and we came up with this outline.

After an outbreak of VITAS-5 in the UCAS, which undermines a lot
of the infra-structure of the country, Sealttle is given
`tempory autonimasy(sp?)'. NAN and CAS botrh make ofers to help
_protect_ the city from outside, both of which are politly
refused. What would happen if the two discrunteled goverments
made a military bid for the take over of the new City-state?
CAS would have to move troups around the Tir, while the nan
could just walk up. So while the CAS is making up for time with
more troups, Atzlan make a move against thier sothern boarders,
hard pushed they ask for help. The Tir are willing to help for
a little repayment, in land. The CAS agree and go about there
battles. Elves being Elves, they have a secret agenda, and let
the Azzies win, thereby taking a lot more land, this gets them
in favour with another dracoform in the Atzland.

Corperations can only realy flourish in peace time, but want to
keep thier extra teratorial rights, so can not be seen to
intefer, of course they just do it sneakily, Mercenaries,
shadowrunner etc. can be employed in lots of different ways.
Eventualy who will win? I'de have the NAN as they are probably
the most leanient, if the Japanese got hold of Seatle everyone
knows what they would do to the Metahumans. So the NAN have
SeaTac and keep it prety much the same, different goverment and
stuff, but it is of significant strastegic importance as a
tradeing town. So the upshot of all this is Atzlan have more
land. Call Free stay static. Tir have more land, and a foot hold
in relationships with the Azzies. UCAS have less land, and the
NAN have SeaTac.

What do you think? Let me know

P. S. Isn't there something about Azzies hateing Metas? Ahhh
well it can be changed in that case.

One problem with attempting to have big world-shaking things: FASA
won't accept them.

The closest you're going to get for a while is to have Chicago get
mostly taken over. At least, I'd hope so.

FASA does take (if you send them in) little snippets of information
on various runs. If you send it in (the address is in the back of the books),
in about a paragraph, sometimes it'll be added to the campaign world (no names,
just ideas. If we worked at it, we might get the Pope's death added to the
game world...I think that would be nice.) But they aren't going to have little
things that somehow change game balance.

You mentioned that something BIG needs to happen in the SHadowrun
universe. Well, there have been rumors abound on rec.games.frp.cyber
and elsewhere that in the near future a city will become totally
unlivable or something like that. Can someone with the whole story
provide some more details?

Very interesting indeed!
I have a problem with the elves working with the Aztlani due to a
lot of things already published but, other than that, really nice. There
have been hints already of what FASA had "happen" in 2051. Look at the
Universal Bughood (the Invae), Earthdawn, and the fourth flyer FASA put
out for the hints. Some of the " --The Big 'D'" and "--The Laughing
Man"
comments in the Tir Tairngire book also hint in the general direction.
Otherwise, though, that's some neat planning. I agree that the
NAN would be the ones to grab Seattle. And they have the ability to keep
the japanese out. Smooth work!
