Lee, I have to ask this. How on earth are you going to use any of the new
material (Source material by your view of things if I'm not mistaken) if you
are going to use stuff from the 2051/2 time range? At the point you are
doing this kind of thing, *IF* you decide to use it, you are going to wreak
utter levels of havoc upon the SOTA curve for your players.

I admit, this is your personal choice obviously, but I'm just a bit confused.
One of the things I've heard *you* mention about your liking of the SR
Universe is it's dynamity (continual expansion and change). What are you
trying to do here? Relive the good ol' days or what?

By setting the campaign back a bit, I can control the tech levels and such
better.
Plus alot of specific modules are somewhat time dependent.
We use SR3, and I just limit what cyberware or bioware you can have to
start.
(So MBW doesn't exist yet, Otaku are just a myth, Alphaware is still rare,
etc)
Believe it or not, my players actually asked me to do this, since alot of
them are new to 3rd ed, and haven't played through alot of the more famous
modules.
My house rules on character generation for the game are less then a sheet.
:)
Honestly 2052 might be a bit early. I might move it to 2055, I just need to
do a bit more
research, and make sure I haven't missed anything I want to use.
I like SR to grow and move the timeline forward so I have new material (and
I like the world), but SR's timeline moves far faster then any campaign I
run ever does. I don't think I've ever had a campaign year, match a real
year, match an SR year. (Not without some fudging on my part anyway)

I don't think we can even reach a full sheet to be honest. I'll have to
think about. We're having a much needed *POW WOW* this Sunday. The group
decided something *unanomously* while I was in Arizona and two other members
were missing (including our resident artist, which is a BAD thing). We're
going to have a discussion of that term ...

(*chuckling to 'self*) I think this is kind of strange. But, admittedly the
group here does game considerably more than many groups that are out there (I
don't know your gaming frequencies, so I'm just not sure). But our game
campaign has been "reset" at times for the reason of just trying to
re-incorporate certain materials more fluidly into the gameline. We tend to
move MUCH faster than anything FASA puts out (Hell, at one point in the
games, we were up to as far as 2112 actually...talk about SOTA!!!!).

Does it always work? No, of course not. But its' fiction!!! ;-P

Depends. When I was in college, we could play several times a week, so
things could move quickly. When I graduated I would lucky to play every two
weeks. Now the new game will run weekly, but with that damn real life crap
in the way, I know better then to say we'll
have 52 gaming sessions in year.
Heh..i've played in alot of interesting games. A low level ganger game set
in early 2050's was very interesting, among others.
I also tend to have a mid-level game, versus a high power near fantasy game.
YMMV of course.
