In most other fantasy games, elves can't grow facial hair. I was reading
Streets of Blood and it mentioned that Serrin (the elven mage) was
shaving. So elves can grow facial hair... or can't they?

Some don't. I don't know of any female elves with beards <grin>





Ancient cultures believed that names held great power, personal
names more so and they were guarded very closely. To protect themselves,
they answered to another name, because if another discovered their real
name, it could be used against them.
History repeats itself.

They can. Several members of the Council of Princes of Tir Tairngire in the TT
sourcebook certainly have facial hair.

Well... Sure... After all, this isn't "most other fantasy games" or even a
fantasy game... It's more cyberpunk with a fantasy twist.

Although most elves are portrayed as clean shaven. I think this is just a
general preference on most elves part, and not an inability to grow facial
hair.

I think it was stated that they didn't grow much facial hair. I would go
with whatever you feel comfortable with. Sounds a lot more like the way
certain racial groups grow less facial hair (like Amerinds). Even among
these groups, some individuals will grow more or less facial hair than
the racial mean or average. Maybe he was just shaving off peachfuzz:)

My new godson has pointed ears!

I guess so, I never thought about it really... One thing to remember is
that each game is more or less separate from all the other games on the
market -- what's true in one game can be false in another.

One thing I notice is that new players apply **&*'s ideas to other games,
most often (in my experience) saying that their elven street sam is 936
years old, or something like that. Understandable, though, if all you've
ever played is **&*...

In Shadowrun they can (as well as in Earthdawn).
