So recently there was a whole thread on stealing cars. I seem to recall
somebody referring to canon rules on car-theft, but I don't remember
where they are.

Where would I find them?

Thanks

I think it's in Rigger 3.
Basicly you have to bypass a maglock per standard rules and than use
electronic skill to turn of Vechicle termination chip, grid guide and start
the car.
Rather easy for any rigger, decker or other tech-wiz with tool kit.
Too easy if you ask me.

Yeah, they are. The rules for fencing the cars after you've stolen them is in the back of
the Shadowrun Companion, under the section on Ganger Campaigns IIRC.

Ah, thanks all.

What a pity, I'm still using Rigger 2 :)

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Hi, new to the list, was hoping to be able to see if anyone had any car theft rules that
they could post up here for me, have been trying to play a poor rigger car thief, but the
GM makes it near impossible to get any sort of car, if anyone has any legit stuff on it,
could they please send me a reply with the text on how to go about it.

Thanks

Joe

According to Caroline Mallett & Joe Howe, on Friday 28 March 2003 08:06 the
word on the street was...

> Hi, new to the list, was hoping to be able to see if anyone had any car
> theft rules that they could post up here for me, have been trying to
> play a poor rigger car thief, but the GM makes it near impossible to get

The official rules for car theft are in Rigger 3: page 12 has a header
"Breaking Into and Hotwiring Vehicles" which basically says you need to
get past the maglock on the doors (p. 235, SR3; a car without upgraded
security having a rating 2 maglock) as well as the maglock on the ignition
(ditto). If the GM is making things much more difficult than that (and
what self-respecting thief cannot open a few rating 2 locks?) I think
you'll need to refer him or her to the relevant bits of Rigger 3.

thanks alot, mucho helpful, like the idea of the car closing itself up and
alerting LS. the bomb is a bit overboard I think though.
