Simple question,

Skills like singing or dancing... can they be used in astral space
to center?

Simple answer:
Yes.

Centering, AFAIK, is something that is used to increase your
concentration level to do a certain thing eg. casting a spell. As long
as your astral body can move, you can probably dance in astral space.
Singing I'm not so sure about, as I'm not up to date on how sound works
in astral space, but my personal opinion is yes.

My simple answer would be "NO"! :)

My simple question in reply would be "Why not?" *grin*

There are skill which rely upon communicative ability and the possession
of a chorenet form. Unless you're mute and insubtsantial in astral
space, then you should be able to do some form of singing of dancing.

My answer would also be "NO" and the reason is
a matter of interpretation rather than any firm
rules, your mileage may vary. My reason is that
Astral space is a place of ideas, spirits and
magic; it is NOT a place of geography and
dimension. When you astrally perceive you
don't see positions and shapes very well, but you
do see auras and can sense emotions. What
does this have to do with your question? Well,
dancing is an art form that has to do with body
positioning and timing. Time may exist in astral
space, but your aura, even if perceived to be
your idealized self image, doesn't actually have
arms and legs to move about. As for singing, I'm
on shakier ground here, but in my game, an
astral mage "talking" to mundanes is just causing
their minds to perceive him, not their meat ears.
He has no vocal cords to control, no diaphram to
carefully control his breath, only thoughts to
convey. Singing is impossible.

Ah, but aren't most centering skills artistic in nature? There for, it
is the EMOTION that counts. You are focusing your SPIRIT to magic, not
your BODY!
