Hey, I'm just feeling this out right now, but I have been thinking of
something for a while noe, and was wondering what everybody else thought.
I have been experimenting around with CGI scripts lately, and I have
also noticed that sometimes it simply takes WAY to long to get your hands on
a book to create a character... so...

How about this. Would y'all be interested in a web site for making SRII
characters? I would use forms and CGI scripts (this is all assuming that
FASA would agree to let me do this that is...) and all you would have to
do is contact the web site, and crank away.

Anyway, if this would be interesting to all o' you, let me know,
otherwise I might not put out the time for this project.

Thanx!
C U L8r!

I think you know my answer to this one already...

It sounds like a nice idea, go ahead and do it if you feel like it.

Absotively! I love this idea!!

I've been tossing around the idea of a Perl program to generate characters,
but haven't gotten started on it yet.. If you need programming support
for the CGI script, let me know, perhaps we can work together on it. I've
also been writing out a series of textfiles paraphrasing (in my own words,
not FASA's) the history of the Awakening, descriptions of archetypes and
metahumans, and the rules of character generation. My eventual goal was
to create a "player's handbook" so that beginners could get access to the
information they needed quickly, without having to buy or borrow the book..
This would make good background on your Web site.

(I can also help with getting a site, if yours has limitations on space
or accessibility.)

Piffle. FASA's cool.. Just don't quote pages of text at people, and
assert their ownership of the game, and they shouldn't have a problem.
There are a number of chargen programs out there already.. If anything
your Web site will be good advertising for them. Anything that gets more
people playing the game...

Go for it! And let me know if I can help out in any way.

Yer nuts, laddie. Don't even allow the remotest possiblility of a
premonition of a though of even having to ASK come within fifteen miles of
your mind. Ever.

We preclude any cyber-systems with a rating above 1, or the first
category, so skillwires 3 are allowed. No bioware is allowed on starting
characters, no skills above 6, and only concentrations allowed, no
specialisations at start.

We also penalise low essence characters in lost dice in social situations,
people tend to feel uncomfortable around them. Within the context of the
game it can be explained that the mixing of the auras in astral space of
people in close proximity has a negative effect when a large amount of
the aura is dead. Of course this can be used to positive effect when
intimidating or torturing people. The table below shows how we apply this
effect:
Essence Lost Dice on social skills
3.01 - 6 0
2.01 - 3 -1
1.01 - 2 -2
0.5 - 1 -3
0.01 - 0.5 -4
Just a few house rules we use, feel free to comment or ignore as you
choose:)
Marc
