Howdy dooody fellow insane chemists!

I am just wondering whether there was any more chemical or genetic type
goodies floating around besides what is in Shadowtech. I am just starting a
character who is a techy (Electronics/BR/Theory, Computer/BR/Theory,Car/BR.
Chemistry Major, and Physics) and I have found only a handful of interesting
or deadly (or both) compunds.
So can anyone help me out?

Regards
Arkem

P.S All those still wondering about the email partition. I have investigated
several other email partitions and have found like I was advised they
generally don't work. Since I myself do not have the resources to do a
manual partition, all we can do is send single emails to FASA about
archiving Out of Date products.

Check Gurth's Page ... I THINK he has a file with more chemicals ...
http://www.xs4all.nl/~gurth/index.html
and
http://www.xs4all.nl/~gurth/plastic.html
(Try the second one first :)

The word is -Petition-. You petition someone convince them to do
something. Please do not -Partition- FASA... I like them in one peice.
(Partition means to divide, among other things.)

Using the system from Shadowtech you can do damn near
anything you want. If you can dream it up you can cook it up. There are lots
of nasty little drugs out there now, natural and otherwise.
I've made several for my games. The great thing is,
especially if its not a common drug, you don't really NEED specific rules
for it. Since the PC doesn't know what it is anyway you can just make the
rolls for them and let them worry.

Actually, his GM (me!) can do anything he wants. However, the
GM does have some ideas on how to get things cooking.

True enough. Plus, I've got a licensed pharmacist on standby (or at
least I will have when he gets back from his holiday) to give me a
hand on relative creation difficulties, effects and expenses.

As a separate (but related!) point I'd like to make here, this was the
first character I've had constructed under 3rd Ed character creation
rules. I can't imagine anyone using 2nd Ed ever buying the skill
"Role Playing Games." One thing I am saying about that skill is
that it allows for some VERY interesting contacts.

You want deadly compounds, okay, do this, go to your local supermarket /
grocery store and take a walk down the automotive and detergent aisles. You
will find plenty of toxic materials. For more information, heck, do an info
search on toxins. Or even better, find the OSHA (Occupational Safety and
Health Agency) website and perhaps they will have links to the information
that you are looking for. Heck, just do an web search for anything on the
topics of toxins and other harmful hazardous materials and liquids.

Oh, and just remember, DMSO gives someone the taste of oysters (IIRC) after
they have been exposed to the stuff.

I think it gives someone the taste of olives (the female protagonist in
Shadowplay by Nigel Findley describes this effect on her IIRC).

About six years ago, some of the guys I ran with made up a list of drugs. I
added a list of chemicals which could be taken from plants. It's been in a
number of things on the net. The most refined version is in the Technology
section of the Neo-Anarchist's Guide to Everything Else
(http://pobox.com/wordman/personal/nagee.html). The drugs portion contains
effects for a lot of real-world drugs, conversions from drugs in other games
and stuff we just made up. The plant section contains a number of poisons
and a wide range of other substances.

You might also try the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry
(http://atsdr1.atsdr.cdc.gov:8080/atsdrhome.html).

Hmm, perhaps the flavor varies from person to person, though I prefer it being
oysters anyway, lends for jokes about someone having eaten some "Rocky
Mountain Oysters" or something about how they are ever going to get rid of the
smell. :)
