I have a question regarding the Shedim presented in
the Year of the Commet and the Strain III, and the
Astral Voids prevailant in the former Chicago
Containment Zone:

Since the Voids and the Strain III attack and destroy
all things Astral, would it be safe to say that the
Shedim would not appear in the former Containment
Zone?

Also, how helpful have my City & Chicago Neighborhood
stats been to those who have requested/received them?

Probably... You could also say that there are some shedim that are, for
some reason, immune to Strain III. These'd be a lot nastier than the
standard types, I'd think, and so be even less desirable to meet *GM grin*

Even more evil idea... a GREATER Shedim with immunity to Strain III

I don't think Strian III killed all the ghouls, or even 100% of the bugs, so
Shedim could survive. They would just need to keep an ey out, and when they
got infected, cleanse themselves quickly. A shedim with the sorcery power
could manage it, maybe. Not a pleasent environment, but you;d likely be the
only Shedim around, with an ample supply of corpses.

ok call me an idiot but what the heck are Shedim?? I'm assuming that
Strain 3 was the astral virus they dumped that was designed to wipe out
all the bugs and almost slaughtered all of the ghouls that were there
because they're dual natured, (am assuming that the same happened to any
shapeshifters as well because of their dual naturedness)

Haven't gotten ahold of bug city or any of those so if anyone's willing
to fill in my blank spots in my understanding I'd appreciate it.

Shedim are described in Year of the Comet, Greater Shedim in Threats 2.

WARNING: NO PLAYERS BEYOND THIS POINT BY ORDER OF LONE STAR.

Shedim are dead bodies which have been inhabited by a new form of spirit
which has started to appear since the return of Comet Halley. Basically
Zombies. As for Greater Shedim, they're a more powerful version, which can
keep the body from decaying and often assume the lives of the people who's
lives they take over. (If you play Deadlands, think Harrowed.) Really
nasty in either case.

I didn't phrase the description of a Greater Shedim very well. Take 2.

As for Greater Shedim, they're a more powerful version, which can keep the
body from decaying and often (but not always) assume the lives of the people
who's bodies they take over. (If you play Deadlands, think Harrowed in
which the Manitou has full dominion over the body.) Really nasty in either
case.

Spirits that can possess soulless bodies -- such as those of dead people,
but also of magicians who've astrally projected. I guess you didn't read
the friendly UCAS government warning about them in YOTC? :)

Right on the money. Knight-Errant used it to "liberate" the Chicago CZ, as
described in Target: UCAS.

Bug City deals with neither of these two things.

I'd think that, with Strain III and the Voids, a grand
Shedim would be the only Shedim that could be powerful
enough to survive that Astral Bacteria and its
effects.

Maybe a good story hook could start with a Grand
Shedim in Chicago trying to spawn other Shedim in
places like the Graceland Cemetary (an HUGE old Jewish
Cemetary on the Northside along Clark between Irving
Park and Montrose). Also, Lincoln Park was built on an
old Civil War Cemetary, but I think the bodies were
moved to Graceland Cemetary before any construction of
the neighborhood. Also, there are several cemetaries
scattered throughout the City, but I don't think any
more than are found in any city of it's size.

But, I think that normal Shedim would die off faster
than they could be raised because of the Strain III!

>From what I can summarize so far, the Shedim, along
with Ghouls, Shapeshifters and other dual-natured
beings would have to be continually checked to see if
they are affected by Strain III, the constant
Background Count of the former Containment Zone, and
the Voids.

Am I right? Am I wrong?
