As some of you might recall, on 5 May I asked for ideas on getting my
players to stay in Chicago until the great bug explosion took place.
Yesterday, it (finally :) all went down, and I thought maybe people would be
interested in knowing how the run ended...

As it happened, the PCs were waiting in line for the club where theye were
told those Desolation Angels would hang out. Inside, they eventually located
some, who shook them off by going into the toilet, and leaving it through
the walls :) The players kidnapped a Knight Errant agent who was also
looking for those Angels (thanks for the tip, JD!) without knowing she
worked for KE in the first place. She didn't know much, but she did lead
them to a KE apartment, which resulted in a shoot-out between the players
and Knight Errant.
Still no leads, but the Angels contacted the players with a message like
"You were looking for us? We need to talk." In a warehouse in Chicago, of
course :) There, the mantids revealed their true forms to the players, who
were too impressed to really do anything (I'd dropped heavy hints to the
shaman that these chicks were pretty high force :). Then, lots of noise
outside, and when the PCs looked they saw nothing but insect spirits :)
causing them to shelter inside and wait for it to pass a bit. When most of
the bugs had seemed to have gone, they hijacked a car and tried to leave the
city, which I was trying to prevent by throwing roadblocks and spirits at
them, until they finally managed to reach a bug-free area (still within the
CZ, of course :) where they went to stay in a hotel. The following day, they
tried to contact their Johnson (it was his daughter they were there to find,
after all), telling him she was a mantis spirit now. He offered them
"everything I have" if they would bring her back to New York for him, which
lead the shaman to seriously contemplate making an astral quest to find the
spirit's True Name... She didn't, in the end, instead they arranged with the
Johnson for transport out of the city, which never came :) (Hey, why would
Saeder-Krupp give a shit about four shadowrunners? :)
After a few days of snow on the tv and white noise on the radio and
telephone (the UCAS military jamming), they decided to take a car and drive
out of the city. Too bad the wall had gone up a few days earlier... *grin*
so now they've occupied a house in a residential area and are helping their
new-found neighbors to defend themselves against the insects...

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed myself with this run :) Thanks everyone for
the ideas...
