Sorry, Kawai. Should have clarified my query. It is more the role playing
flash and Ranma/Big Trouble' feel I'm
looking for than the Dragonball Z (zzzzz...) ability to blow up mountains
in the Mega-Damage(Giga-damage!Wahoo!)
fashion of Rifts. I have attempted at various points with mixed sucess
conversions of Gurps Martial Arts, Ninjas & Stupidspies, and even Feng
Shui to add flavor to the otherwise dull unarmed combat of Shadowrun. I
like using unarmed
combat scenarios occasionally because it makes for a different sort of
fight scene. And thats what it's all about: creating
good scenes for a good story that your players will be able to interact
in. That's why I play Shadowrun: lots of interesting
plot and scenery for a GM/storyteller to manipulate for good time
potential.

Thus I rephrase the question: are there any rules anybody uses to make
unarmed/armed combat more fun?
Are there any good movies or anything that you think have particularly
amusing fight scenes( I'm fond of Robert Asprin novels, for example.)?

And Hel... stop poking the hornets. Cutters got the Flamethrower,
remember?

Isn't there a Dragon Ball Z roleplaying game out there? Maybe that game
will give you some good ideas.

Dragonball Z RPG is a Fuzion game, from R.Tal/Hero Games. Decent system but
their MA leaves alot to be desired.

If you want in SR system suggestions I still use the MA system in TSS.
Works great and you can add/subtract to your hearts content and keep it
fairly abstract, IMO.

If you want off SR system one that really was designed especially for
cinematic MA was done for Fuzion. Easy enough to translate over to SR I
think. As a matter of fact, I think Ken has a Fuzion to SR conversion in
the works, IIRC.

It's called "Fists of Fuzion". and can be found....

Hope that helps.

Nope. It'll give you headaches and questions (LOTS of questions!). Ideas
it probably won't. The DBZ RPG is definately not RTal's best work.
Though, it's fun to say "I'm attacking HIM ... uh ... can I borrow 6,000
dice?"

When I mentioned DBZ it was to state that it was a Fuzion game and to set up
my suggestion about FoF.
When I mentioned "decent system" I was talking about Fuzion NOT DBZ. The
cartoon is OK from time to time but enough is enough. My best freind though
was all but frothing at the mouth to get it. Me..never.

Like I said before, Fists of Fuzion may help, it may not, but it IS probable
the best set of rules for a game with cinematic martial arts.
Hey, they praise John Woo so how bad COULD it be. :) BTW, MI:2 rocks.

Oh. In that case, check out the Martial Arts sourcebook for the Champions RPG.

Oh. OK then, maybe you should check out the "Streetfighter" RPG from
Whitewolf. ;-)
Its fully compatable with the storyteller / world of darkness sytem
(well, as much as any of thier games are compatable). It was fun hauling
that to LARPS whre folks could play "any whitewolf storyteller character"...
;-)
