Hey Guys. How would one resolve this? I was thinking
that every two flights of stairs, roll a Body Test for
each character climbing the stairs.

But what would you suggest for the Target Number? And
how would it be modified?

Thanks in advance! And thanks for all your help in my
previous emails!

Off the top of my head, I'd allow a number of floors equal to natural body,
then make body checks at a TN equal to the number of flights climbed after
that per flight. Failure is light stun and resets the TN to 2. This assumes
the character is in a hurry, which I think is what you are getting at. So a
body 3 average guy is looking at reasonably failing every 5 or 6 floors and
would be shattered at the top. A body 6 smaurai type would still accure a
few boxes of stun.

If you want to do it as one check, make a (floors/10) body check with a base
time of (floors x 10) seconds, and every sucess used to reduce time does box
of stun damage.

These are just off the top of my head ideas.

According to Scott Hiller, on Sunday 18 April 2004 04:06 the word on the

There is actually a published SR rule for this, in the old Harlequin
campaign book. In one of the adventures, the PCs have to climb 40 flights
of stairs to the top of a skyscraper; the adventure calls for them taking
4L2 Stun damage every 20 flights they climb -- in SR2/3 terms, that's 4L
Stun.

This does seem a bit low, but OTOH having them roll Body 25 times is going
to be rather excessive, IMHO.

Perhaps a good way to do it would be to have them take (number of flights)L
Stun damage every time they decide to pause for a few minutes, rising by
one damage level for every ten floors they climb without resting (so after
the 12 floors in one go it'd be 12M, for example). That means that if they
take their time they'll arrive in a condition to fight (which, I assume,
is the idea :) but if they decide to move quickly they'll be exhausted
halfway up.

Just to clarify, you don't have to spend sucesses to reduce the time, so you
can take it easy (as it were) to get to the top with no stun damage.

Good, but IMHO, for pure accessibility, I would only apply this after, say, 6 floors.

1. For whatever reason, once you break 5 floors, buildings start to seem a lot bigger.
(Think about being in college, and having your dorm room on the top floor...)

Also...Use Body*2 floors plus athletics? I mean, really, I doubt Ahnold would have
problems with a _mere_ 6 floors.
