astrally projecting mage even though he can't even astrally percieve.
It all depends on knowing the astral mage is there and forcing him to
intercept a spell. Say teh astral mage wishes to protect a certain person.
The sorcerer fires off a spell with high Force and High Drain Level but
preferably minus Drain power/Tn eg a Force 6 Sleep Spell Drain= -1S
The astral mage knows that splitting up his magic pool to provide spell
defense won't do much so he tries to intercept the spell.
Astral combat goes on: Astral Mage rolls Sorcery/Unarmed etc TN: Force
Spell Rolls: FOrce TN:Magic Attrbute of astral MAge. Assuming the astral
mages' MAgic:6 and Sorcery:6 then all things are even as astral mage may
use astral combat Pool but teh spell can be backed up by magic pool from
caster.
If Astral MAge wins he reduces force by successes I believe -but if spell
wins it does (Force)Drain Level damage ie 6S! And if the spell wins the
caster can elect to continue the battle (this contains as sustaing a
spell so make sure teh caster is hunkered down safe somewhere). This
could very well end up taking out the astral mage!
And teh drain for the casting magician is only 2S which he can hopefully
resist with just Willpower, leaving magic pool (having used none for
casting the spell) purelly to aid the spell's fight.
This does of course rely on the astral mage taking the bait but it still
could be useful.
