Well yes a lot of SR's problems stem from open ended D6's and the
probabilty curve that results. Given the game came out some 8 years
ago which is a fair while now though the game mechanics don't do too
badly. The vehicle problem comes from the fact that the scaling is
limited and APC's are simply too much tougher than squatters for the
system. I may say the only system i have seen that does scale such
power levels ok without utterly deadly and harmless damage codes (ie
lots of dead PC's and SR is set somewhat cinematic to allow lots of
violence prone stuff and have fun without too many dead characters)
is Earthdawn which also happens to be FASA and quite a bit newer.
Short of even more long tables of 'what happens when weapon x hits
target z' the body multiplication by weapon class for vehicles
suggested is probably best (single shot, mutlishot, gunnery class
stuff, stuff that counts as anti vehicle), it uses distinctions of
fire modes and weapon class distinctions already present in the
system anyway, solution. must test it sometime.
