That`s right - for non-good explained rules use common sense as well as for
things not covered in rules. It`s very important but i think that too few
GM`s are using that well...

No way I won't allow the characters to defend them... They can always
roll body dice. You, as a gamemaster, are free to modify the target
number, however... In the case of the shotgun, no armor for the
character applies, so the target# should be about 12. by giving the
shotgun a load of additional successes, the character's chances are
about 1: 999999 (no, I didn't calculate it...just a guess)
He surely will die from the shot, but he still has a chance... as in
real life... you can survive anything... theoretically...

I would have to agree. There should always be a chance to live. You
may not be pretty after it is all over, or even functional, but there
should be a chance. Take the above example, if the character did live
(basiclly he got real lucky), he probably would be no better than a
vegtable. After all there are worse things than dying...

Uhm, erm.... wait a second. Someone Kawaii, I think you got that disclaimer
thing backwards. I would think it would be more like "Because a lot of GM's
READ that little disclaimer in the front of ...". Or am I not getting your
intended meaning correctly?

What I think he means is that random GM A lets a player do something that
while following the letter of the rules breaks the spirit of them. He does
this by letting the player sweet talk him into doing something just because
its in the book. GM A is forgetting Meta-Rule #1, as shown in that
disclaimer, that any rule can be changed if you are the GM.

Of course, I also follow Meta-Rule #2, that any rule that is changed for
the benefit of the player's also benefits the NPC's.

Sure you can use the Rule of 6 for Initiative. So can they...
