I know that this is probably old hat now but has anybody seen the new
Shadowrun Companion yet? there doesn't seem much point ordering it from FASA
until it is...

Until it is... seen? Yes, Rob Boyle ("sprites in the machine") posted
the other day that it has arrived at FASA HQ. (And yes, I've seen it.)

I received my Companion last night and I saw some question come up on
the list, so I thought I would write a brief description of the new
book.

First there is a new cover art by John Zeleznik. A female Adept
shooting a bow with a magic arrow (not exactly according to the rules
but cool none the less.)

The Character Creation Section:
They have add the famous "Twenty Questions" missing from SR3.
Keeps the Points based system but remove Sum to 10 system.
Suggest 120 to 123 points. Has changes to the point table.
Adds and improves edges and flaws.
New character types:
Ghouls. All new.
Shapeshifters: Changes to regeneration.
Metahuman Variants: Same races, but cleans up the stats.

The Skills and Training Section:
Skill Web, Default Rules, and Optional Dice Pools: All gone.
Using Athletics: All new.
Training, etc.: Same.

How to Hire a Shadowrunner:
The same.

Contacts and Enemies Section:
Except for taking out the parts add to SR3 and adding new contacts it
is pretty much the same.

Advanced Rules Section:
Karma: Adds Team Karma. Removes parts that were added to SR3. The
rest the same.
Magic: Gone.
Prime Runners: Same.
SOTA: Same.
Retirement: Same.
Optional Rules: Gone.
Additional Security Systems: Added.
DocWagon: Added.

Running the Game Section:
Keys to Gamemastering Success: Gone (with all those Be’s)
Adventure Base Pay Table added.
The rest is the same.

Alternate Campaign Concepts Section:
The same.

List of Actions:
Added.

Character Sheets:
Different style.

I hope this helps.
