The visible light range runs from around 400 nm to 650 nm, for around 250
nm. But why not include ultraviolet and infrared as well?

Glass is opaque to IR radiation.
For UV, we'd have to have a dye that didn't absorb it... hm. .. . .
perhaps UV would work....

Any physicists out there?
