The azi are the 'vat grown/mass produced' clones from C.J Cherryh's novels.
If I'm not the first can I still get that copy of Shadowland? :) Terry

Okay folks, this is the first place the post is going. I'll send it
everywhere else soon enough.

I am having a contest. The goal of the contest is for people to come up
with a new logo for the Hoosier Hacker House website. I am looking for good
artwork mind you, as we are in the process of becoming a business entity,
I'm hoping everyone that submits will keep that in mind.

I'm looking for something along the lines of the "Mayan/Aztec Shadowrun 'S'"
that we use currently and I'm sure many of you have seen all over the web
and in the books (and on the cover of the CD). I will work with contestants
even, giving feedback to the various submissions in an effort to even help
them understand the various directions that I am wanting to go with this.

The prize??? Actually, there are a few.

Runners' Up will receive a t-shirt with the new artwork, and perhaps even
their own final submission, as well as one of the new buttons from the
finished artwork.

Grand Prize winners will receive a finished polo shirt with our new and
final logo/artwork, a button and...

a BABY.

For those people that do not know what this is, it means "Big and Black
Yearbook", and is a term coined on the ShadowRN Mailing List
(lists.dumpshock.com for more information). The book is in mint condition,
having only been opened to check the spine and printing quality. It has no
writing in it, and is part of the original 1000 printed out for the initial
SR3 new release. The book was acquired at the FASA Booth in August of 2000
after it was discovered that an unopen box of unsold BABY's were still in
their possession. I happened to be in the right place at the right time and
got one. I can probably arrange to have the yearbook signed by Mike
Mulvihill, the Line Developer for Shadowrun (I will ask him if the winner so
desires such, but cannot make a promise).

All entries should be done in full color (even if the colors chosen are all
grays/blacks) and in at least two formats.

if sent via computer email, one format must be in .BMP style.

The other format can be in .JPG (highest quality), .GIF (any variation,
highest quality), .TIF (similar to .BMP).

Flash and Animated GIFS will not be accepted. The artwork will be used by
the Hoosier Hacker House legal entity in their web, product and retail
development in the future.

If chosen, artwork can be sent via direct (snail) mail to :

Hoosier Hacker House
1715 Everett
Lafayette, IN 47905

There will be 5 selected runners' up chosen in-house, with artwork being
available on the current HHH website (www.hoosierhackerhouse.com). Polls'
will be held on the HHH web forums
(http://pub10.ezboard.com/bhoosierhackerhouse) in order to help select final
runners up.

Contest Deadline is October 10th, 2000.

Questions can be directed to me at neojudas@******************.com or

The standard Shadowrun 'S' is actually influenced by the totem art of the
Pacific Northwest.

Maybe some information for everyone would help us all.

1) The Shadowrun 'S' takes its "coolness" from being a serpent. Is there any
particular symbology (animal or otherwise) in which you are interested?
(Honestly, the first thing that occurred to me was a Shadowrun-esque ear of
corn, but I'm guessing that may not have the coolness you are looking for.)

2) Do you require the letter H (or the letters HHH) in the logo? It is
difficult to make H's look cool, because they are so blocky.

Once again the universe mocks me and denies my the BABY I so rightfully
deserve by having one as a prize I cannot win because I cannot draw.
Pardon me while I go mumble pitifully in the corner.

Tell you what... I already have a BABY, so if I happen to win another one,
it's all yours.

Which is strange to hear, considering that Mike M. made the reference to the
Aztec with regards to the "S" this last summer. I think you are right
though, now that I consider it. Either way, the inspirations and directions
are there.

As this letter has to do with a "public level" of information, I'll send it
hear to the list, but otherwise, perhaps the HHH Forums is where things
should be moved to for this ...

I can honestly say, No, the ear of corn isn't something I'd be looking for.
There are others plants that have been suggested to me however, and
depending on the direction and degree of photogenic manipulation that exist,
I could see them going a long way.

I know. I think the only "H" I have seen that is vaguely cool is the one
that is used in the HHH Flash Signature. Its the little flash logo in the
upper left. For those of you with access to Expert Software, its the
"Sabretooth" font.

I have noticed however that stacking the H's one atop the other does make
for some interesting potential.

But please, move the discussion to either private email or the HHH Forum so
as not to clog up the listmail traffic.

Even if he doesn't think he'll win, this is yet another reason Wordman is a
prince. 8)
