Having looked through the rules within SR3 I haven't seen too many
changes (that is asuming that you had kept up with the suplements, such
as; Matrix 2.0, Grimore 2nd edition, Magic 2056, Riggers Handbook, ect.)

I have noticed that Ritual Magic and initiation have not been mentioned.
Are these still within the game, or should I continue to use the SR2
version?

Any comments?

It's true that much of what was in SR2's sourcebooks can be found in
the BBB3, but now new Shadowrun players can spend just $30, and get
one core rulebook that contains the most up-to-date basic rules. The
plan is to take care of the basics of playing SR with the core
rulebook, and use the sourcebooks to cover "Advanced Topics."

FASA considers both of these topics to be Advanced (in fact,
initiation has never been a part of the core rulebook in any edition),
and as such, they will be handled in SR3's magic sourcebook: Magic in
the Shadows (FASA 7907).

Check out the following web page:
http://www.fasa.com/Preview/10070/SR2%20to%20SR3.html

It details the differences between the SR3 core rulebook and the SR2
core rulebook.

Both of these should appear in Magic in the Shadows, the replacement for
the Grimoire and Awakenings. It's due to be published later tis year, but
I don't know exactly when (and knowing FASA, it'll probably be at least a
month later than announced :)

The changes for those types (Grimoire, etc) are going to be implemented in the
future, and I would not call them changes, I'd call it more keeping up with
SOTA.

Ritual magic and initiation are both advanced topics in the realm of magic,
and are supposed to be in MitS when it comes out here real soon (next month,
IIRC).

FASAMike told me a few days ago that it was printer-bound on Tuesday, so it
shouldn't be much longer now.

Then we're either both right, or we're both being led around by the nose
together. <g>
