Cops in Shadowrun can be a relative term. In Seattle, the City gov't
has a contract with Lone Star to do "city security". By that
definition, we can slot them in the same category as cops.
In places like Atlanta, however, the city has refused to "sign over"
the rights of LEOs (Law Enforcement Officers) and the police are still
strong.
It's purely up to the GM as to who would be running an investigation.
IMC, the Police are around in Seattle, but they serve much like the
Police in the Judge Dredd comic books- they just clean up the messes and
take evidence. The "Law Enforcement" is left up to the 'Star.
