This is just a general bitch about FASA's release of SR3.
EIGHT MONTHS TO SEE ALL THE "BASE RULES" STUFF! What's up with that!
I'd have rather seen SR3 released at GenCon with all the "needed supplements
by that I mean - Canon Compainion; Man & Machine; Magic in the Shadows;
Seattle 2060; Whatever the VR2's update is going to be... these are core rules
-
why is there no bio-ware in the SR3 book? Not even on the templates? Sorry,
but i'd rather just pay $110 to 130 and be done with it. And have all the
rules
and "standard gear".

but that's just me.

As far as I know, there isn't going to be a specific VR2 update. VR2 may
be updated in one or more books but I don't think (but don't know for
sure) that there will be a book dedicated to updating VR2. More likely
you will see more things like Renraku Arcology: Shutdown (which had the
Otaku rules update/errata/clarification.). VR2, as a whole, is not in
dire need of revision like some other sourcebooks (ie, Shadowtech.).
Some individual sections of VR2 may, however, get revised as part of
upcoming sourcebooks.

Its annoying, but, given the operating constraints a FASA, not a
terrible sin. Unexpected events delayed the progress of SR3, as it was.
A year to bring out all the other updated books is not so bad, IMO.

Yes and no. They sure were not core rules when SR1 came out, and the
update time for SR2 was even longer, iirc.
BTW, there is no planned update for VR2- the few changes are noted in
SR3.

:why is there no bio-ware in the SR3 book? Not even on the templates?

Becasue (again, per Mike at GC'98) the were not yet sure how to
resolve bioware's effect on mages / essence / magic / power levels in
genral. And its doubtful that prior to GC98 anybody had played enough SR3
to have useful opinions on that.

So why not just play SR2 until you CAN do that? It might indeed be less
annoying than doing "partial conversions", though getting up to speed on
ALL of SR3's new books at once might eventually be a bitch.
