area, and have turned up evidence of a mysterious, ancient culture. So if
you wanna claim Dunk's prize, go to Thera and find a copy of the Book of
Harrow. (Which the Atzlan book hinted one guy had already found)
Of course in ED there is not any mention of Thera being atop a volcano,
however...
There is mention of a bizarre magical construct used to gauge the mana level.
It consists of a piece of True Fire, suspended over a pool of True Water.
Measuring how close/far apart they are gives a general indication of how much
mana is ambient.
Various Ed resource speak (can't give sources off top of head) of the
disastrous results of combining True Elements (matter/antimatter kind of
booms), which may be what happened to the ED Thera.
A note on the real Thera. Underwater archeology has confirmed more than
one settlement on the islands, and has placed the culture as similar to, or a
derivative the Minoan. In fact, Crete experienced its decline immediately
following the Theran eruption. (Most think due to Tsunami's destroying thier
agriculture, and fishing/mercantile fleets)
Unfortunately, ED doesn't mention much of anything a bout North America.
The Feathered Serpents being in Central America are briefly hinted at in
ED:Dragons, so you might be better off making up a good evil-daemon/world
domination conspiracy for Crater Lake.
For anyone who doesn't believe that Ed Thera is Santorini, just take the
Barsaive map, and look at a modern world map that includes the Black sea, and
the Mediterranean.
