Some thoughts on using CRD:

1 Carry a signal booster (Rigger 2 pp. 96), either in a cyber limb,
in a back, pack briefcase or carried by some one else in the party.
This could work as a retrans type (Accept signal then rebroadcast on a
different frequency) or you could hardwire it (Data jack and coax, or
subdermal implants.)

2 Use the situational range modifiers table (Rigger 2 pp. 31). Stay
within line of sight of the Van and you get a +4 to your range. I
would probably call it a +2 as it's not exactly high elevation (ie.
ground clutter).

3 Stick a directional aerial on a telescopic pole on the van. Then
it's easier to claim high ground/LOS from the CRD. It's not subtle,
but it should work.

4 Buy a retrans unit. You will get high altitude/LOS if it's close
but at very high altitude.

5 Keep your drones within LOS. And program some instructions for
when they lose your signal (Return to base, stay put,
KILL...............)
