Sounds like a good idea for a kind of a fun - almost spoof - one off adventure.
Something you'd play as a break from an on-going campaign, or something like
that... As for the mechanics, it should be fairly easy... just give the Marines
really powerful weapons and armour stats, and sort out the RunePriests (or
whatever they're called) and so on with the Magic system... Personally, I
probably wouldn't do it, coz it's not really pushing the envelope that much...
It'd be fun, if you're into WH40K, which I'm not, really..
By the way, I think that, since Steve Jackson (the other one) and Ian
Livingstone sold the Workshop, it's gone downhill, by forsaking it's
roleplaying roots, and has set the roleplaying hobby in the UK back a long way.
They make very good wargames, though, and are probably one of the most
succesful games companies in the world... I just think it's a pity Brian Ansell
and Tom Kirby turned it from the biggest role-playing company in Britain to
Warhammer (Un)Ltd. White Dwarf used to be a brilliant roleplaying magazine...
Now it's Warhammer Weekly.. Well, WH Monthly, if you want to get pedantic...
(Decides to stop bitching about his pet gripe.. ;)

Bill Fli.n..re suggested integrating all of FASA's backgrounds...
Sounds like a bit of overkill, in my opinion... And, anyway, aren't all of
FASA's products set in the same universe? - Earthdawn during the 4th cycle, SR
during the Sixth, and BattleTech and Renegade Legion in the future, between
cycles... In any case, there are BattleMech competitions in Shadowrun...
There's a BattleTech Arena on the fourth floor of the Aurora Village shopping
mall, for instance... (at the northern end of Downtown Seattle, just before
you cross over into Snohomish... (imagines GMs, who's players like both games,
taking full advantage of this little piece of info.. Actually, do try it, coz
it's a lot of fun...))

Gian-Paolo Musumeci doesn't like crossovers...
I've got to disagree with you... Roleplying is all about stretching your
imagination, is it not? If we were to let our game designers do all our
imagining for us, we would be pretty dire role-players... For Official
competitions and so on, things should be as they appear in the rules, with no
additions... But, if people are playing together, at home, or wherever, then
where's the harm? Personally, I enjoy designing the mechanics of crossovers
where two unique game systems collide... like SR and Werewolf, for example...
For each of those games, there are rules specific to each background... But,
play a crossover campaign, with Garou Shadowrunners, you need to integrate
the two systems, picking out the most advantageous rules from each.
Re: GURPS versions of the Storyteller games - GURPS Vampire is exactly the
same as WW's Original game, except for the fact that it uses a different game
system... It's aimed at hard-core GURPS players, who mightn't like the
Storytelling Game System. And, I totally disagree with your opinion about
characters getting nasty, I'm afraid...
Sorry...

I'll see about getting my notes on the Werewolf/Shadowrun crossover campaign
together in one file, and getting it posted to an ftp site or two... ]<<<<<

Didn't this come up last year? Something about Ehran being
behind comstar and Harlequin being behind the invasions of the
clans?

Sorry guys, had to. No, Btech and Rlegion are not of
the same universe.

While it is true that several important connections and similarities are
between ShadowRun and Earthdawn, Renegade Legion and BattleTech are neither
incorporated with one another nor with the ShadowRun/Earthdawn universe.
The latter may be ascertained without even inquiring of the Dark Lord: For
those of you who have read the Star League sourcebook, you shall note a
/marked/ disparity betwixt the future Histories as depicted in their
respective texts ( the MechWarrior manual also contained a selection on Old
Terran history, although the Star League excerpts are far more lengthy and
exhibit greater detail ).

Renegade Legion/Interceptor/Leviathan is quite dissimilar to BattleTech, a
fact made readily apparent from the technology depicted in the sourcebooks.
Admittedly, of the three, I only possess Leviathan; however, the
historical text contained within, with particular emphasis upon the
description of the technology and by what means it was developed, I feel
is sufficient without further corroborative evidence to conclude the two
systems are not intended to exist in the same universe.

Of course, the above statements are supported by statements by the Dark
Lord on High and a few other individuals at the FASA offices.
