Some Firearm accessories are availble for bows, right? What about
Customization? Can you Customize a bow to get the same +1 die as for
firearms?

You _can_ customize a bow. Dunno about SR, but I'd assume so. Yeah, SSC
page 18. Bow accessory mount. Can be used to mount lasers, smartlinks, and
imaging scopes. No idea why it would affect conceallabilty, it goes near
the handguard, and doesn't really affect it.

And on that line, I never found the concealability modifer for smartlinks
and _especially_ laser sights to be justified. I mean, for 130 bucks, you
can get a good laser that fits where your guide rod on a pistol is supposed
to be, or for even less, you can get one that's less than 1cm square that
attaches to the front of the trigger guard. The old monsters that used to
attach to the front of the frame under the slide are ancient things sold
for 20 dollars as toys. No reason why 60 years from now they'd be _bigger_,
and no reason smartlinks wouldn't be pretty close in design.
That's what the market is going for now, aiming accessories that don't
affect your weapon's profile. You can even get them inserted into the
forestock of rifles and shotguns.

Don't see a rule why not although it is stated that the customisation is
for firearms. For bows it would be alright to adjust the bow to the
armlength, counterweights to balance the bow and probably the grip to
have a better feeling. Also the customization of the string should be
taken into account to actually Customize the bow for a customer. I think
the problem is that most adjustments _need_ to be made to handle a bow
properly. Maybe that is why your question came up, hm?
Anyway, I'd say that a gun needs to be customized in a way to shoot with
it properly, and if you take this further than you have the
customization that grants you one extra die for the To-Hit test. Same
here with the bow I say.

Actually, I thought this too but when I decided to check the exact
wording, it says WEAPONS, never firearms. The only restriction (an
implied one at that) is that the customization is a matter of adjusting
the grip and balance of the weapon. So if you can find a weapon with no
grip (all weapons have balance :), you can't customize it (Shuriken
perhaps?).

Nope. The question came up because I wanted +1 die to the Projectile
Weapons skill. :)

Hmmm ... Another thought: What about using the new melee resolution
(staging beyond Deadly damage raises the power of the attack) for all
types of attacks? IOW, why should melee be resolved differently than
everything else?

Is it? I thought it just said "weapons". We have allowed
customization for melee weapons several times (but its more common for
guns). The price should be higher; customized throwing knives are just
silly, unless you get a custom design made as a small production run.
A custom bow might also require custom arrows, which are also quite
common. I think competion people make thier own, with specifiec weight
distribution and fletching, genrally for a specific range.

Okay K, I get the message, yes, you can -Personalize- a bow so that your pc
gains an additional die when firing the bow.

I vote yeah. Of course, if the character's strength increases,
the bow's relative strength would remain the same and might even
counteract the 'customization'..... }:-)
